A tub in your bathroom? Almost essential. A tub in your living room? Luxurious! A tub on your terrace or patio? Wow!
Yes, we are going to remind you how much we like it when companies make products that break the usual bathroom boundaries and integrate parts of them into the rest of the living space. One such amazing product is the Sundeck tub (well actually more than a tub, read below) by Duravit. Created ba the EOOS group of designers specificaly with versatility in mind, this tub will look as good in your bathroom, on your patio or anywhere where there is running water. What really sets this tub apart from others is it’s dual function. Let’s face it, if you install a tub in your living room or on your patio, chances are that you will be around it more than in it. Why let the tub just sit there, thought the folks at EOOS, let people use it even when they are not bathing! And so they created a tub that becomes a sundeck / lounger on demand, by simply opening the comfortable cover that serves as a headrest while folded. Beautiful, functional, WOW!

Good news for everyone who has enough space in their bathroom! We are bringing you the ultimate relaxation shower, if you can even call it a shower. This multi functional shower was designed by Jochen Schmidden, who obviously had set himself a goal to combine everything your body may ever need into this shower. Depending on your mood, you can either stand, sit or even lie down while taking a shower, a steam bath or having a massage. It is equipped with two seats and has enough space for two persons if you like company in your bathroom. There are so many options included into this piece, without any doubt all your senses will be alerted. First of all, you can choose whether you would like see-through glass or blue tinted one for a more private feel. All functions this shower has are operated with a remote control and a touch display. There are 10 massage jets included, with different flow force with a maximum of 4 bar. Duravit claims it has an effect of a professional massage, which is not unlikely with force this strong. Other apliances include overhead, hand, gushing and side showers and a water hose, to refresh yourself if you are taking a steam bath. There is also a module for color lighting incorporated, so you can choose a color to match your current mood. What we liked most in terms of adjusting this shower to all our needs - it has a module for fragnances, so you will always be enjoying your favourite scents. If you want to complete the exclusive feeling, you can always add to this self-endulgence shrine a sound system, so you will be able to listen to your favourite music while relaxing under the refreshing waterflow.

Starck X tub

Toady we bring you another tub by Philippe Starck from his Starck X collection. Starck X products are simple with fine rectangular lines that bring a neutral, relaxing feeling into your favourite spot, your bathroom. We picked the Starck X bath tub from this collection due to it’s elegant appearance and numerous variations you can choose from. We liked the option with a water channel with specially handled stones most of all, once we saw it we couldn’t escape a senation of a remote, exclusive spa resort. It has a really natural, open space feeling about it. This is another piece that has the potential to turn a dull looking bathroom into an exotic escape from real life problems which we all need from time to time.
The tub is freestanding so it is up to you how you incorporate it into your bathroom. We suggest that you place it as further away from the walls as you can, to achieve the maximum effect. We suggest the option with two backrest slopes. This way your body will be in a more natural and relaxed position than in a tub with only one backrest. You also won’t have to draw straws for the side with the slope if you decide to invite someone special over to your place. Other than water channel with stones, there are two more options - wooden inserts and a light changing system.
As most of Starck’s designs, simplicity adds much more to the visual impact of the final product than it takes away. Two thumbs up.

We have always adored Philippe Starck’s work but we definitely feel this washbasin ranks as of his best designs ever. Despite it’s shape being as simple as they get, just like most of Starck’s designs, this basin has that something about it doesn’t allow you to take your eyes off of it. You will probbably be surprised to hear that this modern, minimalistic piece was designed in back in 1994! Starck’s designs are timeless. The elegant cone shape makes this washbasin a real space saver with only 58 centimeters in width. Despite the small dimensions, the baisn is spacious so when you rinse your face in the morning you won’t have the whole bathroom splashed with water.
Below the washbasin, Starck 1 #040658 also has a built-in cabinet. This is quite handy, because you will have one more thing to cross off the list whille getting pieces together for your modern self-indulgence oasis. There is enough space to put all the cosmetics and other products that make your bathroom look crowded because you can’t find any space for them.
We especially liked the dark casing finish, the unit also comes in a lighter color, but our favourite was and still is the dark one. Try combining it with big beige travertine tiles which will make this piece of modern beauty stand out, as it should.

At only 140×140cm in size this beautiful tub by Duravit will fit into any bathroom, any room too for that matter. Duravit took things beyond their pure functional form again with a pooltub that really looks as good inside the living room as it would in a bathroom. Ideal for a nice evening relaxation with a bottle of champagne this tub will, inspite of beeing really small, easily accomodate two persons. Not many people will seriously entertain the idea of having a bathtub in their living room but for those that would, Blue Moon would be the tub of choice compact, elegant and luxurious, it would almost be a sin to put it in a bathroom. With 53cm of water depth and mood setting lights it looks and feels awesome. It can be installed free-standing, in a corner or against the wall and the numerous finishes and accessories will allow it to fit into any design style. Available panel finishes include American Cherry, Helsinki birch and Olive ash wood finishes among others and the surrounding ledge is available in teak or white acrylic.
