A guide to buying bathroom furniture and hardware online

Shopping online is probably one of the greatest advantages the internet brought to people. Never before in history were you able to find exactly what you want, see it in detail, customize it, and have it delivered to your home without as much as stepping your foot out of the door. The same thing applies to bathrooms. Be it a vanity, a faucet, a tub or bathroom accessiories you are looking for, you can find what you want and buy it online. As convienient as that is, there are of course some things you should keep in mind when buying online.
The first and possibly the most important thing is to buy only at authentic websites with a proven record and straight forward terms and conditions. Do not buy at stores that don’t have an acceptable return policy. Big established online stores care about their customers and won’t pull any tricks on you. If you find something you like, you will have a chance to see it from many angles and get enough information to see if it fits your needs. You will get the exact same product you chose will be delivered to your house. Even if you decide you don’t like it after it has been delivered good stores will allow you to return the items for either a refund or another item. If a store doesn’t have a return policy or the terms seem unacceptable do not buy there, it’s not worth the risk.
Also, be sure to check the shipping policies and costs, most reputable stores will waive shipping fees for larger orders or have regular flat-fee shipping specials. Watch out for hidden fees and long waiting periods. Again, with reputable stores you will be safe from any nasty surprises. Some stores also offer intrest-free monthly payment plans for up to 6 months or other benefits.
Here at Wow Bathrooms we link only to reputable stores that have been in business for a long time and have a proven track record. If you know of any other good stores please dol let us know, likewise if you think you have been ripped off by an online store contact us and we will try to help you and if there is no resolution we will help spread the word to protect other people from getting conned.
Happy shopping!
Bathroom, your private luxury resort

Many people percieve bathrooms as a part of their home that has a purely functional purpose. Bathroom is a place where you go when you have to, not a place where you go when you want to relax or have fun. Being possibly the most private and intimate place in every home, your bathroom should be much more than that. A bathroom should be the place you can retreat to when you need that long overdue break. Of course, that idea just doesn’t stick if your bathroom was built to be a regular “get in - get out” type of bathroom.
As technology races forward at an ever increasing pace turning your bathroom into your private leisure resort becomes easier and cheaper day by day. Thirty years ago most you could do with your bathroom boiled down to a hot-tub, some creative lighting, some nice furniture and a bottle of champagne. Anything above that would have set you back a lot of cash, and you probably don’t even want to imagine what a huge CRT TV set standing on a cabinet next to the tub would look like. Today, you can have a hot tub with a TV screen built in, hi-fi audio taking care of the mood and air bubbles massaging your back while a computer controled set of dim background lights works it’s magic. You can even program everything so all you have to is get home from work and slip into the tub. Like the idea? We certainly do!

Does it stop there? Certainly not! How do you feel about a toilet with a TV, TiVo, Xbox360, a laptop, cooling fan (did we mention a mini fridge?), an ipod dock and a bunch of other essential appliances sound? In the nineties, if you told someone that in less than two decades you would be sitting on a toilet like that you would be lucky if they just laughed at you. Today, it’s not only possible, it has already been done!

While the “Pimped up John” is quite an exaggerated example of a modern bathroom appliance, it is not all that far from what everyone would like to see when they enter their bathroom. Most people will gladly settle for a lighter version for their hi-tech bathroom. A nice whirlpool bathtub, good audio system and a waterproof TV set and some modern furniture to go along with them will not set you back too much but will bring hours of fun and relaxation far beyond anything you have experienced at home before.
If you are planing on remodelling your bathroom, treat yourself with the full package and you won’t regret it, we promise!

How to make a small bathroom look bigger?

Do you have a small bathroom you would like to make bigger but can’t?
While tearing down walls and rebuilding your bathroom from scratch may be the most effective way to accomplish your goal, it is not always possible. Costs, position inside your house, plumbing and a multitude of other factors play a role here and sometimes it’s just not possible. Does that mean you are out of options? Certainly not!
Our spatial perception of any bathroom is largely affected by:
Bathroom lighting
Light can do wonders to our perception of space. Clever placed light sources not only serve their functional purpose but immensely affect our perception of the size of the bathroom. Make sure you combine both natural and artificial light sources as much as possible. Skylights, roof windows (where possible) and bigger windows will allow a lot of sunlight to come in while visually enlarging the space and giving it an open feel.
For artifical light sources consider using many small light sources embedded into the ceiling instead of one or two big light sources. Also try mixing in a number of additional lamps for added effect, and do not forget mirror lighting. LED light sources can create fabulous effects if applied properly as well. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to consult a lighting professional for assistance if your budget allows it. Colored lighting can also work well for emphasising certain key places in the bathroom.
Mirrors
Mirrors, mirrors, mirrors - use them! If you can, get a mirror that will cover most if not all of one of the walls. It can easily make the bathroom appear twice as big as it really is. Combining two or more mirrors on opposite walls can also chieve fantastic effects. Oh did we mention Mirrors?
Floors and walls
Light colors make up for little space. By light we mean light warm colors, drop that blue idea please! Avoid making the whole bathroom too sterile by only using white unless an all white bathroom is what you really want. Floors and walls should ideally be light colored just like the accessories and furniture. Some contrast is always good, but try to avoid too much of it unless you want certain items to dominate the space. Any combination of pale colors should work well. Using wallpapers or tiles on the walls can add more texture to them and make up for the small space as well. Mixing small and big tiles on different surfaces can create a good effect as well. If possible, shelves carved inside walls will also break the perception of a small rectangle room and make your bathroom look more spacious.
Avoid big, avoid much, keep it simple. You want more room thus really big things have to go out. A small bathroom packed with big furniture is like a small garage with a humvee parked inside - too crowded. Switch that big vanity for a smaller one, get rid of excess cabinets, vaste bins and generally anything you don’t really need in your bathroom often. Replace anything too big for a smaller model and your bathroom will magically start breathing again. If you have a big tub, consider replacing it with a shower cabin or a smaller tub.
Keep in mind that a small bathroom will always be a small bathroom even if you make it look bigger, if all you want is a feeling of more space then everything will be great. On the other hand, if you really need more space, knocking that wall down and expanding the bathroom might be a good idea afterall, and it might not cost you as much as you think.
Hansa Canyon, raising the bar in faucet design and functionality

HansaCanyon - a rhapsody of color in your bathroom. The moment we laid our eyes on these marvelous pieces of modern design we were in love. Such a simple concept yet such a powerful visual impact, HnasaCanyon is stunningly brilliant.

This line of bathroom faucets coming from Germany’s hansa certanly raises the bar in both faucet design and functionality. HansaCanyon faucets turn the faucet from a purely visually passive fixture into what could easily be the the single most striking element of any bathroom design! Not only do the faucets resemble a canyon which was achieved by removing the top wall of the faucets, but they also change the color of the light depending on the temperature of the water that is flowing. From cold-blue through a mild and soothing pink tone to hot bright red that is sure to keep little kids’ hands away.
Aside from the stunning visual effect this creates it is also almost guaranteed to keep you from burning your hands ever again. This may not sound as something worth writing about but I can recall what seems to be infinite times when I got caught up in something and accidentaly burnt my hands because the water was running hot. What a hot feature (no pun intended). The entire operation of the Hansacanyon is electronically controlled by sensor buttons which are discreetely placed as not to interfere with the sharp rectangular design lines. For more information please visit the Hansa website or shop for Hansa Canyon online
